Pricing
What does the big price on each listing actually include?+
It is the CIF cost at your chosen port: the FOB price of the vehicle in Japan, ocean freight for that vehicle's cubic volume by your chosen method, marine insurance if you've selected it, and any pre-shipment inspection your country requires. It does not include destination duty, VAT or port handling. Those are set by your customs authority and we cannot quote them reliably.
Why does the price change when I change the port?+
Freight is priced on the vehicle's size and the route it sails. A vehicle landed at Mombasa costs considerably less than the same unit landed at Georgetown, which is why the destination selector re-prices the whole catalogue the moment you change it. Every figure you see already includes freight, insurance and inspection to the port you picked.
Is the quoted price fixed?+
The price on your proforma invoice is fixed for seven days. Prices on the site can move if freight rates change or the exchange rate shifts materially, so if you're comparing, ask us to issue the invoice and lock it.
Do I have to take the insurance?+
No, but we strongly recommend it. It is 1.5% of the FOB value with a $45 minimum, a few dollars against the total loss of the vehicle at sea. Without it, damage or loss in transit is entirely your risk.
Buying & payment
How do I pay?+
A deposit by card reserves the vehicle immediately. The balance is normally settled by telegraphic transfer to our company account, which is printed on your invoice. You upload the SWIFT copy and we confirm as soon as funds clear.
How do I know you're not going to take my money?+
Ask for our JUMVEA registration and check it independently. We issue a formal proforma invoice before any payment, we never ask for funds to a personal account or to an account in a different name, and we send the Bill of Lading before the balance is due on request. If anything you're asked to do differs from that, stop and call us.
Can I buy more than one vehicle?+
Yes, and it's usually cheaper. Two or more units sharing a 40ft container cuts the per-vehicle freight noticeably. Tell us what you're after and we'll quote the consolidated rate.
Can you source a vehicle you don't have in stock?+
Yes. We buy at Japanese auction weekly. Give us the model, year range, maximum mileage and your landed budget, and we'll bid on your behalf and send you the auction sheet before committing.
Shipping & documents
RoRo or container: which should I choose?+
RoRo is usually cheaper for a single vehicle and discharges faster. Container gives better protection and becomes better value from two units upwards. Both are priced on every listing so you can compare directly.
How long does shipping take?+
From departure: roughly 20 days to South Asia, 30 to 32 days to East Africa, 38 to 42 days to Southern Africa, and 48–52 days to the Caribbean. Add one to three weeks before departure for inspection and vessel booking.
What documents do I receive?+
The original Bill of Lading, the Japanese export certificate with an English translation, the commercial invoice, and the pre-shipment inspection certificate where applicable. Scans go out the same day the originals are couriered, so your clearing agent can begin early.
Can I ship personal items inside the vehicle?+
Not by RoRo. Carriers prohibit it and the vehicle will be refused at loading. Inside a container it is sometimes possible, but it changes your customs declaration. Ask us first.
Import rules
What is an import age limit?+
Several countries refuse vehicles over a certain age. Kenya allows up to 8 years, Pakistan and Bangladesh 5, Sri Lanka 3, Mauritius 4. When you select your country we flag any listing that would be refused entry, before you inquire.
Do I need pre-shipment inspection?+
It depends on your destination. Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Jamaica, Trinidad, New Zealand and Australia all require it. Where it applies, the cost is already included in the price you see.
Will a right-hand drive car be legal where I am?+
In most of the markets we serve, yes, which is why Japanese stock suits them. A few countries restrict or ban RHD imports. Check with your local authority before you pay a deposit; we'll tell you what we know but the ruling is theirs.
After the sale
What if the vehicle arrives damaged?+
Photograph it at discharge before it leaves the port and tell us immediately. If you took marine insurance we help you file the claim with the underwriter. Without insurance, transit damage is not recoverable, which is why we push it.
What if the vessel is delayed?+
It happens, and it's outside our control. What we control is telling you as soon as we know, with the revised ETA, rather than going quiet. You'll get an update at every stage automatically.
Do you offer a warranty?+
These are used vehicles sold as inspected, without mechanical warranty, the standard for the trade. What we do offer is honest condition reporting before purchase: full photographs, the auction sheet where available, and a straight answer about any fault we know of.
Still not sure?
Send us the question. If the answer is that we can't help, we'll tell you that too.
